What are waste

Waste material for future use, it can be a valuable resource if it is treated properly, through recycling processes with paper and plastic. With the paper a treatment is carried out to give it an appearance as white as possible, through chemical components and finally through presses where they will reach the appropriate thickness for recycled paper in reels. With the plastic material, new bottles, containers, bike lane separators and traffic milestones are made.

There are public administrations where the main consumers of products based on recycled plastic are the administrations themselves. In elements such as bollards, fences, poles, benches, etc.

These uses from the good management of recycling are what drive us as a society to a viable alternative to the pollution that we can generate. The activities promoted by the government in this area should be promulgated to all citizens so that each one of them adequately manages their personal and family waste. Likewise, government agencies should observe and sanction citizens who do not make good use of waste management .

When we talk about urban waste we must always keep in mind the three R : Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Reduce

Reduce talks about reducing resource usage, for example by optimizing processes. In the wastewater sector, this means that the direct use of fresh water / potable water in production is reduced. This is done primarily by replacing fresh water with process water. Reducing the consumption of fresh water not only protects the environment, but can also reduce production or operating costs, especially depending on the use of the solution.

Reuse

Reuse describes the reuse of resources previously classified as “waste” in the same or new areas of use. In the wastewater sector, the term is used to describe systems that allow treating water that has already been used in operations, to such an extent that it can be reused.

Recycle

Recycle speaks of the well-known recycling. This means that the waste product is revalued so that it can go back into the cycle as a resource.

In the case of wastewater, this means that the contaminated water is treated and returned to the water cycle. It goes directly into a body of water (lake or river) or the sewer system.

 The importance of waste treatment

It is important to manage the waste generated in your industry or company. Treating them properly gives you the following benefits:

  • You help not to pollute the environment.
  • Avoid environmental sanctions that in many cases can be very expensive.
  • Avoid putting the health of all your company’s staff at risk.
  • It allows you to raise your business status in front of your customers.

Waste management is a very important issue that your company must take into account to treat it as a priority, collaborate with the environment, and comply with environmental requirements.

Impact on society

Our consumer society has reached the point where in the case of cities, packaged food is manufactured so that it does not last too long, 5-8% of new food ends up in the garbage with the wrapper, can or glass included, without Recycle. This is where most of the packaging problem comes from, where the consumer cannot freely decide between choosing a food that is already packaged and another that is not, mainly because of the price it entails.

Waste management takes its toll on health, as it has a great impact, there are many children in the world who collect lead batteries and develop diseases from contact with this electronic waste.

Sustainable urban management would help to plan resources efficiently and, above all, with a view to a future that is increasingly full of garbage.
